Computer engineering students study the design of digital hardware and software systems including communications systems, and devices that contain computers. Computer science is the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based particularly software applications and computer hardware. An important area within computing engineering is the development of embedded systems. Devices such as cell phones, digital audio players, digital video recorders, alarm systems, x-ray machines, and laser surgical tools all require integration of hardware and embedded software, and are all the result of computer engineering.
The department of computer science and engineering prepare students for a professional career in Information technology. Our prime objective is to instill in students the changing technology throughout their career and their realization in current platforms and tools to meet the industry standards. Students should also develop an appreciation of ethical and professional standards and an understanding of the social impact of information technology. To establish and maintain an atmosphere that supports faculty development and growth that encourages faculty to embrace constant changes in technology and curriculum, and to be creative in all aspects of their jobs.
